Project Officer (m/f) Number 2020-534, The Industrie 4.0 Learning Platform Project (LP4.0) Jobs
As a non-profit, federally owned enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is active in over 130 countries worldwide, implementing international cooperation projects and measures in the field of sustainable development on behalf of the German Government, as well as other national and international clients (e.g. EU, private enterprises, and foundations). In addition, GIZ is also engaged in the field of professional training around the globe.
With about 40 years of experience implementing projects in the People’s Republic of China, GIZ provides policy advice on various topics and sectors relating to China’s reform process, including: environmental protection, sustainable economic development (especially renewable energies and energy efficiency), sustainable urban development, sustainable transport development, vocational training, law, product safety and consumer protection.
The performance profile of GIZ is continually being adapted to the cooperation needs of both countries – within the framework of the “Comprehensive Sino-German Strategic Partnership” – as well as within the framework of the dynamic changes occurring as a part of Chinese reform policies. In addition, GIZ works as both adviser and service provider at the interface between the economic and political spheres. GIZ is also active in those fields in which German actors possess in-depth profiles and competitive advantages, and where German expertise is in high demand.
The Industrie 4.0 Learning Platform Project (LP4.0) – A DeveloPPP.de Strategic Alliance Project
The LP4.0 project is a Strategic Alliance Project (STA) established under the DeveloPPP.de programme introduced by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The goal of the programme is to pool resources from governments, private sectors as well as academia together for the attainment of specific development goals in developing/emerging and under-developed countries through joint-efforts. As the official implementation body, GIZ is responsible for the development and management of the projects.
The LP4.0 project was conceptualised against the background of the existing and potential employability pressure for mid- to low skilled workers in a fast-transforming manufacturing sector in China. Therefore, the project aims at enabling workers to operate in an increasingly digitalized manufacturing environment in manufacturing-intensive regions in China through the development and promotion of an interactive online learning platform with blended on-site trainings. The project duration is 3 years (with possibility of extension) and currently involves partners from various fields such as SAP, IAIT, Fraunhofer IFF, GAMI, Beijing Jingcheng Machinery, and MIITEC (a training arm of the Chinese Ministry for Industry the Information Technology).
The LP4.0 project works closely with the Sino-German Industrie 4.0 Project, which manages and facilitates the political dialogue between the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Industrie 4.0 / Intelligent Manufacturing.
