The German Chamber of Commerce in China | Shanghai (GCC Shanghai) is the representative organization for German companies in Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Shandong, Henan and Hubei. As part of the world-wide German Chamber network, the mission of the GCC Shanghai is to promote economic ties between the Federal Republic of Germany and the People’s Republic of China with a special focus on its geographical area. With about 1600 member companies, the GCC Shanghai provides a forum for its members and advocates member interests with relevant organizations. The GCC Shanghai, together with the Delegation of German Industry & Commerce and the German Industry & Commerce are the overall platform for Sino-German trade and industry promotion in East China.

Project Manager – Business Development

  • Proactively bring in new membership and achieve or exceed assigned targets
  • Generate revenue by meeting and exceeding assigned sales targets through partnership and sponsorship acquisition
  • Be responsible for Member Benefit Program GC Deals
  • Work on business development and marketing plans for membership sales and partnership/sponsorship sales
  • Identify new sales opportunities and shifts in customers’ demands to explore potential sales channels
  • Negotiate sales contracts with prospective clients and be responsible for fulfillment of sales/partnership contracts for orders
  • Present sales, revenue and expenses reports and realistic forecasts to the management team in weekly/monthly reports
  • Coordinating sales efforts with marketing and support the team’s marketing strategies by helping determine pricing schedules for quotes, promotions, and negotiations
  • Maintain client database
  • Support membership service, event organization or other tasks as assigned
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics or related field
  • Minimum two years of work experience after university degree
  • Fluent in Chinese and English, German language skills a plus
  • Successful previous experience as a sales representative or sales manager, consistently meeting or exceeding targets
  • A commitment to excellent customer service
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Strong business sense and industry expertise
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work comfortably in a fast-paced environment
