Das Leistungsprofil der GIZ wird dabei kontinuierlich an die Kooperationsbedarfe beider Länder im Rahmen der „Umfassenden Deutsch-Chinesischen Strategischen Partnerschaft“ sowie an die dynamischen Veränderungsprozesse im Rahmen der chinesischen Reformpolitik angepasst. Weiterhin berät und arbeitet sie als Dienstleister an der Schnittstelle zwischen Politik und Wirtschaft. Die GIZ agiert zudem in Handlungsfeldern, in denen deutsche Akteure über ein fundiertes Profil und Wettbewerbsvorteile verfügen und deutsche Expertise nachgefragt wird.

About this job:

We are looking for a highly-motivated and professional team player with experience in regulatory or government affairs. Main tasks are the research-based advisory to ministries and other governmental institutions, industry associations and enterprises, the strategic planning of project activities as well as their implementation within the framework of the Sino-German bilateral multi-stakeholder dialogues on quality infrastructure. The Sino-German Quality Infrastructure Project, based in Beijing, offers a position as Project Coordinator starting at the earliest date possible. The successful candidate will be responsible for a comprehensive range of tasks in project management as well as industry and government relations. Strategic advisory tasks to the political dialogue as well as the conceptual planning and result-oriented implementation of cooperation activities are at the core of this position.

The position requires pro-active and professional communication internally and externally with government institutions as well as relevant industry associations and enterprises. Furthermore, the ability to research and present information about the most recent political developments is necessary. Due to the international nature of our project, well-developed communication skills in Chinese and English are required. German skills are considered a strong plus.

The recently restructured Chinese government landscape, especially regarding technical trade regulation, offer the successful candidate an outstanding opportunity to develop into an expert in quality policies, market access and international cooperation, while strengthening and building up on a well-established network in politics and industries.

Government Relations and Partner Management:

  • To liaise with Chinese governmental authorities and public institutions, provide technical and organisational information, advise and support bilateral dialogues with the German government.
  • To liaise with German and Chinese manufacturers and associations, align topics and activities, provide advisory and support for the bilateral dialogues.
  • To actively monitor the partner landscape and identify relevant new partners and topics.

Strategic planning and implementation:

  • To support the development of a strategic approach for the bilateral cooperation in quality infrastructure and trade regulation, incl. the identification and analysis of important new policy and regulatory developments.
  • To plan and coordinate the implementation of related activities with a strong focus on results achievement.

Reporting and knowledge management:

  • To monitor, research and report about important political and economic developments and support innovation and knowledge management in the project.
  • To contribute to documentation and reporting of the overall implementation of the project towards governments and project partners.
Requirement:
  • Masters/MSc in a relevant field, e.g. economics, business engineering, international relations, etc.
  • 3-5 years professional experience, preferably in business or government, with at least 1 year professional experience in a comparable position.
  • Fluency in Chinese and English (written and spoken), good German skills are considered a strong plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High work ethics, reliability and motivation. The successful candidate must be able to handle multiple simultaneous assignments with competing priorities and fixed deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills. Efficient, accurate and high-quality delivery of all work-related output.
  • Very good working knowledge of common IT and communication applications.
