About this job:

Why We Need YOU:

At our marketing and information solutions department we engage, every year since 2016, in a research project on behalf of a strategic partner of Direct HR Group.

It is a fun an intensive project that usually kicks-off by late May and comes to an end around mid-September, with the release of a report and a series of regional presentations with market information covering the current state of compensation in China for a wide range of industries and functions.

The project involves sourcing data from secondary and primary sources. The latter will entail the preparation of an online questionnaire, online data collection and administration, data consistency and data analysis. Now, here is the thing: our Marketing Manager can’t do it alone. So that is why we need you.

We need your keen analysis, creative ideas, and quick actions to take this project to successful completion. You have the expertise to work with data (either with Excel or other tools), the passion to learn about how to maximize response rates and learn how to handle online software to collect data. With the guidance of the Marketing Manager and your impetus, we aim at delivering the best content possible out of the information we will gather.

 

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing:

As dreadful as they are, we are going to leverage on bullet points to give you a more specific sense of the type of tasks and responsibilities you will be handling. We hope such a list will give you an idea about how your day-to-day is going to look like. Ready? Then let’s go:

 

Project Launch Preparations:

  • Questionnaire revisions and adjustments in online software.
  • Contact list preparations.
  • Define launch and reminders calendar as well as the content in communication elements (graphic materials, email body, subject, call-to-action).

 

Data Collection:

  • Monitoring response rates and taking corrective actions.
  • Managing queries by respondents.
  • Monitoring data submitted: is data being recorded appropriately? is data consistent compared to previous editions?
  • Secondary sources research, data compilation, and analysis.
  • Report design.

 

Data analysis, final report, and presentations:

  • Final data consistency analysis once the survey is closed.
  • Data analysis: mostly distribution/frequency analysis and basic statistics (mean, average, median values).
  • Preliminary results report.
  • Full report and regional reports.
  • Distribution of results to survey contributors.
Requirement:

Core Qualifications

  • You are getting your bachelor’s degree in one of these related fields: Marketing, Communication, Statistics, Mathematics or Business Studies.
  • You are a results-driven individual with the ability to manage the different stages of a project in a timely manner following high-quality standards.
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills & hands-on mentality. A can-do attitude: able to think on the spot and correct course to get to the intended outcome.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Data-driven. Strong analytical skills and statistics acumen. Ability to process and understand data.
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office Excel.
  • Excellent written & spoken: English & Chinese
  • Solid organizational skills.

 

It Would Be Nice If...

  • You already have some experience in producing quantitative research, either from previous internships or assignments over the course of your studies.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • You possess knowledge of design software (i.e. Photoshop, Adobe Illustrate).
  • You have dealt with online surveys and/or mass-email software.

  • To effectively manage your own project and ensure all involved stakeholders stick to their tasks and timelines. You will see how the project moves from a conceptualization stage to an actual product that brings value to the organization and the market.
  • The research project will give you access to the latest developments in labor market conditions and developments in China.
  • You will get familiar with the importance of copy and timing when it comes to communication and maximizing on intended behaviors (call-to-action) that you will be able to apply later on in other professional endeavors, were you to pursue a career in digital marketing/communication.
