In Short

We are looking for a creative and motivated team player, native Chinese with a good command of written and spoken English/German and high interest in international communication and the Sino-German political dialogue processes in the area of Industrie 4.0/Intelligent Manufacturing.

The intern will offer administrative and technical support for the team and should be able to work independently as well as eager to push forward own ideas. Work experience in the field of political science, international cooperation, consulting or AI/Industrial Internet is considered a strong asset.

Our project provides insights into the ongoing Sino-German political cooperation as well as the latest technological trends and private sector developments on Industrie 4.0. Previous work experience in the fields of translation, interpretation and intercultural communication are considered an asset.


The Sino-German Industrie 4.0 Project

As an instrument of bilateral cooperation, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH acts on behalf of the German government and in the interests of both Germany and China. We provide a platform for dialogue and cooperation as well as policy advice to both governments. In doing this, our work strongly supports China’s reform processes to build a sustainable balance between economic growth, social equality and environmental protection.

Since July 2015, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) are working on facilitating the cooperation between German and Chinese companies in the area of intelligent manufacturing and interconnected production processes.

The Sino-German Industrie 4.0 Project, implemented by GIZ, is supporting the Sino-German Industrie 4.0 Working Group as the Industrie 4.0 China Liaison Office of BMWi to support its implementation of the cooperation mechanism with MIIT based on a MoU. Main partners to the project are ministries and government authorities in both countries, especially BMWi and CCID (China Center for Information Industry Development, the Chinese implementation organization for MIIT on implementing Sino-German intelligent manufacturing cooperation) as well as private sector institutions such as trade associations, research institutes and companies.


Task Profile:

  • Support in the implementation of activities and events with our partners, such as Sino-German Company Working Group Industrie 4.0 and Intelligent Manufacturing (AGU)
  • Monitoring and reporting on political, regulatory and industry developments
  • Translate and summarise work reports, policy news and other documents (CN to EN/ GER)
  • Administrative and general support for project activities (e.g. database maintenance, event organisation, travel arrangements for political delegations).
  • Policy analysis and drafting of policy briefings
  • Support to the project’s monthly newsletter by writing news summaries and completion of editorial tasks


You will be working in an international team dynamic and be supervised by a project manager.

  • Studying in an advanced level of a bachelor’s programme (7th semester/4rd year or above) or in a master’s programme in an area related to policy analysis, economics, political science or international relations
  • Native Chinese, fluency in English and/or German (written and spoken)
  • Very good communication skills; culture-sensitive social skills and team work spirit; good sense of humour
  • Very good command of IT and communication technologies and other relevant computer applications
  • Able to work flexibly and independently; excellent organisational skills; efficient, accurate and high quality delivery of all work-related output


The internship is remunerated with a monthly allowance. According to the extent of relevant experience and progress in your studies (advanced post-graduate), other employment formats can be considered.
