Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH setzt als gemeinnütziges Bundesunternehmen in mehr als 130 Ländern im Auftrag der deutschen Bundesregierung und weiterer nationaler wie internationaler Auftraggeber (bspw. EU, Wirtschaft, Stiftungen) Projekte und Maßnahmen der internationalen Zusammenarbeit für Nachhaltigkeit um. Weltweit aktiv ist die GIZ auch in der internationalen Bildungsarbeit.
In der Volksrepublik China führt die GIZ seit fast 40 Jahren Projekte durch. Beraten wird China auf seinem Reformweg in vielfältigen Themen und Sektoren des Klima- und Umweltschutzes sowie der nachhaltigen Wirtschaftsentwicklung, insbesondere zu Erneuerbaren Energien und Energieeffizienz, nachhaltiger Stadt- und Verkehrsentwicklung, Beruflicher Bildung, Recht, Produktsicherheit und Verbraucherschutz.
Das Leistungsprofil der GIZ wird dabei kontinuierlich an die Kooperationsbedarfe beider Länder im Rahmen der „Umfassenden Deutsch-Chinesischen Strategischen Partnerschaft“ sowie an die dynamischen Veränderungsprozesse im Rahmen der chinesischen Reformpolitik angepasst. Weiterhin berät und arbeitet sie als Dienstleister an der Schnittstelle zwischen Politik und Wirtschaft. Die GIZ agiert zudem in Handlungsfeldern, in denen deutsche Akteure über ein fundiertes Profil und Wettbewerbsvorteile verfügen und deutsche Expertise nachgefragt wird.

As a non-profit, federally owned enterprise, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is active in over 130 countries worldwide, implementing international cooperation projects and measures in the field of sustainable development on behalf of the German Government, as well as other national and international clients (e.g. EU, private enterprises, and foundations).

Since its initiation in 2007 at the Sino-German Forum for Economic and Technological Cooperation, the bilateral cooperation between China and Germany in the energy sector has developed into a strategic partnership in 2016. The Sino-German Energy Partnership links three levels of action: high-level policy dialogue, business-to-government exchange as well as an exchange of experiences on technical and regulatory solutions promoting the energy transition. The main aim of the partnership is to foster and advance the far-reaching and profound energy transitions that are ongoing in both countries by exchanging views, best practices and knowledge on the development of a sustainable energy system, which is characterized by improving energy efficiency and expanding the use of renewable energy.

The energy partnership also aims to encourage private sector cooperation and showcase best practice technologies, innovative services and business models to drive the energy transition in both China and Germany. Both sides have agreed to jointly implement demonstration projects promoting energy conservation to demonstrate exemplary solutions for energy efficiency in industry and integrated district energy planning serving as reference for China.

Your tasks:

• Research on Chinese and German energy related topics, e.g. on energy systems, energy transition, renewable energies and energy efficiency

• Drafting and translation of background research papers, publications, presentations, newsletters on Chinese and German energy politics and other technical subjects etc.
• Support the preparation and organisation of events (technical workshops, conferences, trainings, study trips etc.)
• Support further tasks/ daily operations of the energy partnership, e.g. administrative works in the office

Your profile:

• Master student with strong academic background in one of the following subjects or other comparable subjects: energy/electric engineering, energy policy & economics, renewable energy
• Chinese native speaker, excellent skills in written and spoken English, German would be an asset

• Experience in the field of energy (through studies, internships and other activities) is a plus

• Team player with an ability to work independently and under pressure
• Excellent command of MS office applications, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Enrolled at a university for the duration of the internship
