Das Leistungsprofil der GIZ wird dabei kontinuierlich an die Kooperationsbedarfe beider Länder im Rahmen der „Umfassenden Deutsch-Chinesischen Strategischen Partnerschaft“ sowie an die dynamischen Veränderungsprozesse im Rahmen der chinesischen Reformpolitik angepasst. Weiterhin berät und arbeitet sie als Dienstleister an der Schnittstelle zwischen Politik und Wirtschaft. Die GIZ agiert zudem in Handlungsfeldern, in denen deutsche Akteure über ein fundiertes Profil und Wettbewerbsvorteile verfügen und deutsche Expertise nachgefragt wird.

Project:  The Global Project Quality Infrastructure of GIZ: Product Safety and Technical Trade Barriers.

In recent decades, the People’s Republic of China has become the second largest economic power in the world and has replaced the US as Germany’s most important trading partner outside the European Union.

In the context of steadily growing trade volume, efforts to harmonize Chinese and international quality infrastructures are getting increasingly important. Strengthened bilateral cooperation will increase the quality and safety of traded products and reduce technical trade barrier. On behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), GIZ is implementing political and technical dialogues in the areas of market surveillance, conformity assessment, technical harmonization and production conditions in the “Sino-German Quality Infrastructure Project” (QI Project).

The QI project supports and provide advice for the exchange of political and economic stakeholders between the two countries in bilateral work groups, which focus on intensive cooperation in all areas of quality infrastructure. In the process, innovative cooperation formats on the topics of dialogue are developed and implemented together with all stakeholders in projects.

Project partners are the Chinese Authorities as the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) and the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM). The involvement of private sector stakeholders, industry and private certification centers and testing institutes from both countries is of vital importance as well.

In the framework of your internship you will support the team in current project activities in the areas of market surveillance, conformity assessment, norms and standardization and related fields. Amongst others, you will support the project team with the following tasks:

  • Drafting and translation of reports, meeting minutes, presentations, news and other relevant documents
  • Planning, design and implementation of project activities (e.g. organization of study trips and training events)
  • Carrying out targeted professional research and draft papers and briefs accordingly
  • Support to daily operational and administrative work
  • Support of the design of information materials and public relations in the project.


You will work in an international team and support our activities with the partners of the project.


The ideal candidate

  • Studies German, economics, political science, law or a comparable major in higher semesters (from the 5th semester onwards) and is enrolled in Chinese Universities
  • Has initial knowledge of the topics of the project
  • Has already gained work experience in the above-mentioned areas
  • Has excellent language skills in German and English, Chinese native speaker
  • Is a strong team player and shows distinct social and intercultural competence
  • Is able to work independently on multiple simultaneous tasks
  • Has good MS Office knowledge



  • The internship is remunerated according to GIZ’s intern remuneration system.
