About this job:

The department “Fairs, Events & Delegations” (FED) offers One-stop-exhibition services incl. trade fair participation and pavilion organization. Additionally, FED offers professional and tailor-made event management as well as full support for business and government delegations to China.

Tasks / Responsibilities:

  • Actively lead a team of currently 6 members
  • Provide leadership for planning, implementation and controlling of all ongoing projects
  • Responsible for the strategic development of the whole department as well as its services and products. Close coordination with the top management and other departments in the GIC offices is required to ensure adherence to office strategies and regulations
  • Supervise and control the financial performance of the department
  • Briefings, public appearances as well as attendance of official events within the scope of delegations, events and trade fairs
  • Actively support other offices of GIC Greater China to develop and execute trade fairs, events and delegations
  • Build and maintain working relationship with key industry partners, multipliers and clients, including German ministries, DIHK, the German Consulate Shanghai, Germany Trade & Invest, other trade and economic development agencies, industry associations and chambers


  • Bachelor or higher degree, preferably in the field of business administration
  • At least 5 years working experience in the field of event management and/or trade fair services, working experience in China is a plus; at least 2 years in team leader or management position
  • Fluent in spoken and written English and German; knowledge of Chinese is preferred
  • Excellent skills in project management, a superior aptitude for analyzing working procedures as well as the ability to think strategically in order to improve and develop the department, its services and the business
  • High level of personal integrity, reliability and interpersonal skills. Strong communication, presentation and selling skills
  • Events and major deadlines require a flexible work schedule and willingness to work extended hours
  • Regular travel across Asia, China and Germany is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint and familiarity with CRM systems
