AMK China is an affiliate of Germany’s largest industry association for modern fitted kitchens. AMK provides marketing, PR and communication services to more than 140 European producers of kitchen furniture, electrical and kitchen appliances, kitchen sinks and fittings as well as large trading houses for fitted kitchens.

For China AMK has identified several business goals. AMK will market and promote the concept of the modern fitted kitchen to consumers in China and thereby create demand for modern and high-end kitchen products. AMK will also offer to its European client base highly qualified and bespoke consulting services to assist in the business development, marketing, sales and production of high-end kitchen products in China. Finally, AMK will be facilitating dialogue and cooperation between European and Chinese companies and industry associations. The aim of such exchange is to harmonize the different technical standards for the kitchen industries in China and other countries, ultimately benefitting producers of kitchen products in China and Europe.

Since AMK China was founded in 2013, it has established multiple very high-level contacts and partnerships within the Chinese kitchen industry, the retail business, exhibition corporations and relevant local associations. Securing and expanding these networks is crucial for the further development of this industry network and to maintain the support of our AMK members.

About this job:

General Manager China

You will be located at the head office in Beijing.

You will report to the Managing Director of AMK China and to the Managing Director of AMK in Germany.

As an ambassador for the modern fitted kitchen we expect you to have a keen interest and proven ability in bringing together new ideas and people in China, ideally in the durable consumer goods sector and/or with products where cutting edge design and technologies converge. You should possess several years of experience in marketing and public relations. Ideally you will have a strong network within China-based media organizations and businesses. AMK requires you to have a solid grasp and ability to understand, convey and discuss technical terms and concepts and draft technical documents. A technical qualification or degree is, however, not required, but would be helpful.

Capabilities and responsibilities

  • Immediately available
  • PRC native
  • Travel passport holder (used)
  • Good communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent management skills with a proven track record
  • Willingness to travel extensively nationwide
  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree
  • Excellent English, both spoken and written
  • Knowledge of German is not required, but would be a plus
  • Minimum 7 years of working experience
  • Meticulous appearance and manners
  • Confidence in communicating and dealing with diverse people and organizations

 

  • Leading the day-to-day business of AMK in China
  • Reporting to the Managing Directors at AMK China and AMK Germany
  • Taking the lead in marketing and PR planning work
  • Assist in formulating business and financial plans and implement plans and resolutions of AMK China or AMK Germany
  • Facilitate, organize, moderate and report on meetings of individuals and organizations of the European and Chinese kitchen industry
  • Manage relationships with marketing, PR and media agencies
  • Research, analyse, report and monitor important trends in the kitchen market in China
