Our client is one of the global leaders in HVAC industry.  With generations of its successful stories all over the world, the company has established an excellent name in this field globally.

In order to strengthen their market position in China and abroad, the company aside to its already existing wholly owned manufacturing site, decided to set up another JV plant in the Jiangsu Province.  This Greenfield project is created to produce piston compressors in large quantities.  The plant will employ roughly 1,200 employees when fully operational.


Key Responsibility :

Direct the piston plant through a team of functional managers and front line supervisors. Start from scratch to build up (large scale production) and ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while implementing and improving the efficiency of manpower, materials, and machines. Responsible for the leadership and direction of the plant to ensure achievement of mission and objectives.

  • Establish a production site and to phase in (new) products considering goals (faster, better, cheaper)
  • Interpret market as well as legal requirements
  • Derive new product designs also under consideration of lean principles
  • Validate conformity of design from multiploe perspectives
  • Coordinate “Stage Gate Process” until market phase-In
  • Provide “BEST in CLASS” operational performance to customers
  • Provide Technical Product + Application support to customers as well as all other interested parties
  • Consolidate market demands and ensure availability of capacities
  • Receive customer orders in “Pull Principle”
  • Confirm + schedule production under consideration of available capacities
  • For Machine + Assemble orders using standardized and stable processes that follow the “Flow Production principles”
  • Coordinate dispatch of parts to customers under consideration of promised dates
  • Responsible for fastest possible feedback to customers for any kind of in-quiries
  • Ensure availability + usability of purchased material under consideration of target numbers and lean principles
  • Monitor and drive management system.  Manage compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Ensure “Global Quality”
  • Provide adequate gauging and quality assurance systems that support the value adding processes in determining goals (Quality First) as well as legal requirements
  • Responsible for usability decisions on purchased parts according to the goals (faster, better, cheaper) as well as legal requirements
  • Responsible for EH&S system
  • Play a leadership role in establishing and maintaining relationships with key customers and the company’s managers
  • Based on the vision (VMV), derive + visualize company goals and strate-gies.  Drive team towards them.
  • Ensure proper communication throughout the company
  • Hire, train, develop and mentor staff.  Ensure policy deployment and ac-countability
  • Create and provide performance environment in which staff shows initiative and pride in working for the company.
  • Foster “Mistakes and Treasure” philosophy
  • Report and visualize status quo to superiors and HQ
  • Responsible to continuously question and improve status quo
  • Monitor & scan processes from supplier to customer.  Visualize wastes, eliminate them and standardize new defined processes and policies
  • Actively and pro-actively communicate to HQ and understand their per-spectives and needs
  • Monitor and visualize and communicate improvements
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in management capacity and proven expe-rience as a COO / Managing Director or other managerial position in China with a clear P&L or budget responsibility
  • Experience with international sales and foreign suppliers very desirable
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing strategies, busi-ness plans and targets for Chinese market, which are agile towards the market changes and forces, as well result in business and profit growth
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, measure of performance, cor-porate law and management best practices
  • Experienced in HR and hands-on people management
  • Ability to effectively meet and communicate with employees, the public and vendors
  • Daily contact requires courtesy, discretion and sound judgement
  • Lead and motivate teams in an innovative and sales-focused environment
  • Ability to influence, change and convince stakeholders, peers and custom-ers
  • Solid PC skills using Microsoft Office software, SAP R3
  • Good written communication skills and effective organizational skills
  • Ability to work collectively with others within the organization
  • Fluent in English and German, preferable another Asian langauge
  • Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering; or Master of Business Administration (MBA) with technical affinity
