About our client

Our client is a German SME and leading manufacturer of high-performance textiles. The company is active in various markets and their product applications range from advertising banners to technological premium-quality products. The company is currently in the process of hiring a General Manager who is esponsible for the Employer’s entire daily business with respect to the Employer’s production, technology and operation.

 

Job Description

The “General Manager, China” will carry out the tasks in accordance with the Employment Agreement, the Employer’s Articles of Association, the instructions of the Board of Directors, within the scope as authorized by the Board of Directors and the relevant laws and regulations. She/ he reports disciplinarily and functionally to the Board of Directors of the Employer.

 

Role and Responsibility

  1. General:
  • Global view on grown performance;
  • Planning, directing and coordinating the entire production cycle;
  • Implementing production plans;
  • Coordinating production plans with the relevant departments in Germany and the production team in China;
  • Directing, supervising and coordination production with the technical manager;
  • Planning and controlling workshop flow

 

  1. Corporate Planning:
  • Planning, directing and coordinating the operations and business of the Employer;
  • Evaluating and reporting of progress on plans;
  • Analyzing cultural and economic factors in order to promote the Employer’s business;
  • Project management.

 

  1. Organisation and Personnel:
  • Developing and implementing an organisational structure;
  • Assisting in the recruitment process for the management team;
  • Supporting the management team and HR manager with the recruitment of qualified and suitable personnel;
  • Ensuring and promoting employees’ development and training;
  • Facilitating and taking measures regarding the retention of employees.

 

  1. Leadership and Controlling Function:
  • Creating and maintaining a positive and harmonious working atmosphere;
  • Developing team spirit and work commitment on all levels of the organisation;
  • Demonstrating adequate leadership skills and continuous self-education on all levels;
  • Guiding the management team in order to increase staff motivation and commitment;
  • Ensuring an appropriate finance and operation controlling system;
  • Monitoring the targets and results of the Employer and initiating corrective measures where necessary;
  • Maintaining the required standard of quality of work;
  • Ensuring the compliance with costs and deadlines.
  1. Interests of the Employer:
  • Promoting and carrying out the Employer’s mission and guidelines;
  • Handling public relations and legal matter with the support of external advisors where necessary;
  • Ensuring a safe and healthy working environment;
  • Representing and marketing the Employer towards third parties including, without limitation, customers, suppliers, agents, public bureaus and authorities and other institutions;
  • Representing the Employer in an appropriate manner in order to promote and strengthen the Employer’s reputation and credibility.

 

  1. Business Management:
  • Managing business procedures and practices in compliance with the Employer’s general rules and regulations, taking the local conditions, cultural circumstances and business conduct into consideration;
  • Achieving business results in accordance with the budgets und business targets;
  • Business Development and sourcing new customers;
  • Maintaining customers’ relationships by visiting and keeping close contact with customers;
  • Ensuring the compliance with the business ethics and the relevant laws and regulations;
  • Pursuing a continuous improvement process on all levels and in all processes of the society;
  • Improve grown revenue.
Requirement:

The successful applicant

 

  • Education: University degree, preferably in Engineering, Chemistry or with profound technical knowledge in the sectors of coating and laminating.
  • About 10 years successful experience in a leading role in senior management positions, preferably also working experience in an international company.
  • Chinese and English business fluent (Chinese or non-Chinese with excellent Chinese skills)
  • An entrepreneurial mind-set and strong leadership capabilities
