German Mechanical Engineering Commercial Services Co., Ltd. (GMECS) is the official service provider of VDMA China.

The German Engineering Association (VDMA – Verband Deutscher Maschinen und Anlagenbau) is Germany’s and Europe’s largest industry association for the capital goods sector. There are over 3200 corporate members within the association. The VDMA represents 80% of the total machinery volume of the German machinery manufacturers. The association is structured into 38 sub-associations. In China, the VDMA is active since 2004. There is one location in Beijing and one in Shanghai. The Shanghai Representative Office is currently looking for a motivated intern, who can support our activities here in Shanghai. The Shanghai Office of the VDMA is mainly focusing the sectors Robotics + Automation, Food Processing and Packaging Machinery, Machine Tools, Woodworking Machinery, Metallurgy and EMINT (Electronics, Micro and Nano Technologies). Besides the industry sector related association work, the VDMA Shanghai team organizes regular industry and networking events for its members.

About this job:
  • Conducting potential clients analysis
  • Building-up additional sales channels
  • Contacting potential clients and arranging appointments
  • Preparing sales & marketing tools
  • Presenting services at clients’ side or at events
  • Achieving sales targets
  • Drive strategic development
  • Develop and retain clientele
  • Provide and coordinate business meetings
  • Facilitating GMECS events in China
  • Executing projects according to the spectrum of GMECS services
  • Finding new business partners
  • Supporting strategic developments of GMECS in China
Requirement:
  • Bachelor degree or above, major in business administration, event management or engineering (exemption possible if proven sales track record or young professional freshly graduated from University could be also possible)
  • Preferable: More than 2 years’ work experience in sales of services (preferable consulting services) and/ or event management
  • Strong network within the Chinese mechanical engineering industry is a plus
  • Experience in sales and marketing
  • Experience in event management and/or project management
  • Negotiation skills
  • Planning and budgeting skills
  • Work experience in machinery related field like for e.g. production, sourcing, purchasing, logistics or consulting is a plus
  • Strong communication skills
  • Contacts to financial institutions or industry associations is a plus
  • Used to work in an international environment
  • Good English both in oral and written, German will be a plus
  • Chinese (Mandarin) skills is a plus
  • Good skills in MS office
  • Team work spirit
  • Outgoing
  • Ambitious and highly motivated
